It’s the 10th Mastery Monday. This month, we will be focusing on printmaking. You’ll be playing, experimenting and exploring through natural forms to create print designs either through monoprint or relief. Printmaking encourages us all to slow down, think in reverse, and embrace the unexpected. Be prepared to be surprised!

We’re in Mercury Retrograde, so consider this practice your perfect excuse to slow down, tune in and take things one thoughtful step at a time. Let your art practice follow the same rhythm of being reflective, intuitive and process-led.

How it works

Mastery Mondays feature six progressive activities designed to enhance your skills in specific art forms. These activities are not meant to be completed all at once; each may take about an hour (give or take), depending on how deeply you wish to engage in each one. The six activities include:

  1. Artist Exploration: This activity allows you to study artwork to gather ideas and techniques, and maybe spark an idea.

  2. Elements of Art: This task will help you learn about a particular element of art, such as line, shape, space, value, colour, texture, and form.

  3. Skill Practice: In the skill practice, you will apply the skills learnt from the elements of art activity to create various art practices, such as sketches.

  4. Observational Study: This exercise will help you enhance your observational abilities.

  5. Create: It’s your time to put all those skills into action and create a piece of art, any size you desire.

  6. Journal: This activity provides a moment to reflect on your work, focusing on what went well and what you wish to improve—always keep it positive!

This is your chance to ignite your creativity, imagination, and curiosity without the intimidation of a blank canvas. It’s time to reignite your artistic spirit!
